TOOLS PRINT EMAIL Bailout Decision Might Wait Until After Thanksgiving By Liz Opsitnik Thursday, 20 November 2008 05:46 The auto industry bailout package is still up in the air today, as a vote by the Senate may not take place until after Thanksgiving. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the Senate could return to Washington after Thanksgiving, implying there may still be time for negotiators to work out a compromise on the bailout, reports the Detroit News. "We are in a situation where we don't know procedurally what we are going to be able to accomplish today," Reid said. The Senate may vote today on a bill that would extend unemployment insurance benefits. But Reid said senators should be ready for "a roll call vote or votes". So it’s still possible the Senate could vote on the auto industry bailout today.
